Our Story

Meet The Instructors

Stephanie Reynolds
Stephanie Reynolds is a yoga instructor, Core Exercise Specialist, and the founder of The Willow Studio. She is passionate about empowering women to prevent or reverse pelvic floor issues so that they can feel strong and confident in their bodies.

Stephanie has certifications and training in yoga, fitness (including pre and postnatal), Pelvic Floor Pilates and Chi Gong. She has been teaching her signature Pelvic Floor Fitness Workshop to women across Ontario since 2015.

Before becoming a certified yoga instructor in 2014, she earned an Honours Bachelor of Science in Geology and a Masters in Geographic Information Systems, and worked in environmental consulting and government policy in Calgary, Ottawa and Peterborough.

Heather Clarke
Heather is one of only a handful of Certified Yoga Therapists in Peterborough, with 1000+ hours of training and additional certifications as a Recreation Therapist and Senior Fitness Specialist under her belt. She has worked for over 35 years designing, implementing and evaluating therapeutic programs within both clinical and community settings.

Heather’s life, when not teaching yoga, embraces her husband and family of 3 sons and 1 daughter, her grandchildren and grand-dogs. A life full of seasonal, wholesome food, golfing, walking all those dogs and Netflix date-nights are also important.

Alaina Connelly
Alaina and her family live on the premises of Lakefield College School where she is an Outdoor Education teacher. She has worked as a professional guide around the world and as a canoe guide throughout all corners of Canada.

She has a passion for adventure, travel and being active. Her training stems from a desire to challenge herself and explore new fitness regimes such as Crossfit. She enjoys working with moms and being a part of their fitness journey.

Carly Eagles
Carly is a 200-hour certified yoga teacher with a thoughtful, encouraging and lighthearted style. Carly has taken her passion for teaching abroad, teaching at international yoga retreats.

She is a Certified Nutritional Practitioner and manages Sweet Simple Nutrition, a holistic wellness practice specializing in women’s health. When she’s not at the yoga studio you can often find her in the kitchen, a coffee shop, spending time outdoors, or singing.

Monika Holland
Monika Holland began her yoga journey in 2011, which became a routine that helped develop the strength and determination to make positive upgrades in her life.

She is a highly sought-after Peterborough yoga instructor, and is known for her calming voice and ability to relax a roomful of yogis. She has additional certifications in Yoga Nidra and Hot Stone placement and massage.

Elena Kiriloff
Elena has been practicing yoga for over 10 years and in 2011 was certified as a 200-hour yoga teacher.

She is also a volunteer birth and parent companion and doula. In May of 2019, Elena will be finishing a 5 year journey to become registered as a midwife in Ontario. Her extensive experience with birth informs her prenatal yoga classes.

Elena has 2 children, ages 9 and 3, who have inspired her on every step this path.

Lia Gomez Lowe
Lia is a 200-hour certified yoga teacher with a specialty in prenatal yoga. She also has a background in corporate interior design and web design.

Her personal yoga practice has taken her to distant countries, studying under world-class instructors. While pregnant with her daughter in 2015, her practice evolved into a totally new experience where she was forced to slow down and look inward. This variety of influences has broadened her view of yoga and inspires her to create engaging and well-rounded classes.

Shayna McLauchlan
Although a nurse by trade, Shayna is a born fitness junkie and CrossFit enthusiast.

Through two pregnancies and postpartum recoveries, she noticed that the fitness industry lacked knowledge and awareness around how exercise should be modified during the perinatal period. This motivated Shayna to become certified as a Pregnancy and Postpartum Athleticism coach, and she now enjoys helping women use functional movement through exercise to support every day life.

Emily Norris
Emily is a certified personal trainer with a Bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education. She also works as a physiotherapy assistant helping with clients with physical disabilities. Emily’s mission as an instructor is educate while teaching to give women an understanding of how to move, breathe and feel confident in their own body.

Outside of health and fitness Emily loves spending time outdoors, and with her friends and family. In the summer months she spends her free time in her garden and on the water.

Donna St. John
Donna is a certified yoga, Pilates and fitness instructor, personal trainer, and healthy eating coach.

In her spare time, Donna is busy on her Bethany farm with miniature horses, Scottish Highland cattle, a llama, and two rambunctious Akbash puppies. Donna and her husband have a passion for adventure travel… with more than 25 countries visited the list keeps growing!

Stephanie Thornton
Stephanie Thornton has always felt pulled to mindful movement, which began with earning her Black Belt in Karate by 18 years old. She is a 500-hour certified yoga instructor, with additional trainings in Prenatal and Yin yoga.

Stephanie has recently welcomed her second baby into the world, and is passionate about supporting other women on their pre and postnatal journeys. Follow her on Instagram @modernvillageyoga.

Cara Trotter
Cara is a 500-hour certified yoga teacher, and has specializations in Yoga for Round Bodies, prenatal yoga, medical chi gong, and Reiki. Prior to teaching yoga she studied neuroscience for three years and has two children that keep her very busy.

Cara strives to create an environment that supports and empowers students to trust their own intuition, and to find their own internal gauge for healing and happiness.

Matt Vidler
After years of suffering from bipolar disorder, obesity, and using alcohol to cope, Matt discovered the practices of yoga and qigong. Through consistent and dedicated practice, he began to connect with something deeper than his “self” and made radical lifestyle changes including switching to a primarily vegan diet and losing over 100 lb. Matt is a passionate and knowledgeable instructor who creates an environment of self-compassion and reflection.
